Upon the invitation of the Macedonian Centre for International Cooperation the Project Coordinator of the Human Rights Support Project will pay a study visit to Northern Ireland together with representatives of the Police and Justice Sector in the period from 23 to 28 May 2010.
To promote the National Preventive Mechanism in the Republic of Macedonia, in cooperation with the Ombudsman, in the period 05-06 June 2010 a second training session will be held for police officers, whereas in the period September-November 2 two-day training sessions will be held for prison services of several penitentiary institutions.
With regard to the human rights protection of persons deprived of their liberty for the period May-June, two visits to prisons have been agreed as follows: PI Shtip and Skopje Prison, whereas in the period September-December visits to police stations will be organised in cooperation with the Sector for Internal Control and Professional Standards.
In May the periodical report of the Human Rights Support Project will be published regarding the section on free legal assistance to possible victims of police abuse or torture.
